For both architects and contractors, go and see their homes currently under construction. Spend a few hours, unrushed and on your own time schedule, to investigate projects referred to you as illustrative of a candidate’s design or construction ability.
A private, spa-like retreat with calming colors and relaxing textures can bring serenity to demanding lifestyle.

The words light, clean, and bright drove the design solution to this forever home master suite.

If the home is still under construction, take note of the neatness of the contractor’s work site, lack of trash, and organization of materials waiting for assembly. A properly supervised construction crew will have an orderly site. This is also usually a good indication that you will find quality workmanship inside. A messy site often indicates inadequate supervision and lack of attention to seemingly minor (but tellingly important) details, and likely reflect an absence of quality assurance measures and fine craftsmanship.
